my story.

natalie henderson - the story behind the Padlock pad.

"I Wanted To Make Something That Locked Both Football & A Healthy Mindset In One Place"

I am football obsessed & have a huge passion for trying to get the very best out of people. I can’t stand wasted talent. If you were born with even the slightest bit of talent, I believe you should do everything you possibly can in your power to unlock that. I see too many players & coaches not reaching their potential & not looking after their own mindset & more importantly, not knowing HOW to.

As well as this, I have a huge fascination in mental health & the psychology of the brain. Mental health is an issue. And from my own personal experience, a BIG issue in the football world. It's not talked about enough & again, in my opinion, there is not enough being done about it. So I wanted to do something.

I wanted to create a platform where I could lock football, high performance & a healthy mindset in one place.

The first product I created & what kickstarted the 'Padlock Pad' journey off was my player journal - the 'Player Padlock Pad'. Having always been involved in the football world, I wanted to create something that locked all of my knowledge, experience & learning, as well as help from researchers, footballers, psychologists & coaches all over the world in one place. I wanted to make it for the people who are the reason I coach, the players.

The 'Player Padlock Pad' has been shipped to thousands of players all over the world & is supporting them both on & off the pitch. The content & reflections help with football development, the tasks, quotes & information help the brain stay healthy. It’s what I think, is the perfect blend between good mental health & understanding of what a player needs to make it to the top levels.

Since then, I have created more products for not only players, but coaches too. As well as this, I write a 'Development Drop' - which is an email that's delivered  every now & again to coaches, parents & people. It includes football ideas, life thoughts, discussions & experiences that fill my brain on a daily basis.

Finally, the name 'Padlock Pad'...

Imagine you have a padlock which could unlock your FULL potential as a human. The point of this platform & products are to give you as many keys as possible to help unlock that potential you have within.

Happy Unlocking :)

NATALIE HENDERSON.

"Natalie Henderson is a Professional Football Coach. She is currently Assistant Coach of the Canada National Team & was formerly England Head Coach for the WU17's. Prior to this she was at Newcastle United Men’s Academy as YDP Lead Phase Coach.

Natalie was the first ever female coach to be employed full time in a Premier League Male Academy where she spent 8 years of her coaching career. She was the only female to be a Lead Phase Coach within the Youth Development Pathway before then moving onto her role with the English FA. In the 3 years she was at the FA, she led her team to two WU17 UEFA European Championship tournaments (2023 & 2024) and a FIFA World Cup (2024). Natalie made history with her team by becoming the first England WU17 team to gain a UEFA European Championship Silver Medal. Her team also finished fourth in the world at the 2024 FIFA World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

Natalie is also a proud winner of the Premier League’s Eamonn Dolan Award, which is an award that looks to 'recognise an individual making an exceptional contribution to football coaching and/or coach development in football within the Academy environment' and more-so recently a winner of the FA's 'Courage' award, presented by Sarina Wiegman in December 2024.

Natalie is a past player for Durham Women & Newcastle United FC."
